Team Up

Team Up to help communities promote lasting health and wellbeing

‘Team Up’ is about London’s trainee doctors and dentists partnering with community organisations to promote health and wellbeing during 2012 and beyond.

Team Up began as London Deanery’s official Inspired by London 2012 Initiative and was piloted throughout 2012.

We brought together voluntary teams of doctors, dentists and public health professionals in training with community organisations to form health education partnerships.

The programme aimed to help improve the health, fitness and wellbeing of Londoners. It also provided opportunities for doctors and dentists in training, and students, to broaden their teaching and leadership skills and gain experience in community development.

The following plans are underway to embed Team Up within the curriculum for doctors, dentists and public health professionals in training in London:

  • An accreditation scheme, which will formally recognise projects that meet set criteria consistent with Team Up aims
  • eLearning modules on Working with the Third Sector, which will
    be hosted by BMJ Learning
  • A new home for central coordination of Team Up within the Foundation School Central Team in shared service (on behalf of LETBs), enabling roll out as part of the curriculum for all trainees.
