Professional Support Unit
The Professional Support Unit (PSU) is here to provide for the professional development of clinicians in London.
The PSU’s resources are open to clinicians in London across all career stages. For more information on the purpose, scope and aims of the PSU please refer to the document (Development of LD PSU) downloadable on the right.
Who can access the PSU?
- All doctors who relate to a Responsible Officer (RO) that is part of the London Responsible Officer Network. (If you do not know who your RO is then please consult the flowchart or the London RO and Designated Bodies List (Nov 2012).
- All dentists that work in London
How to access the PSU?
Access to the PSU is by self-referral. If you are a manager or supervisor then please invite the clinician themselves to contact us.
Please look at the menu on the left for a list of services that are available from the PSU, and comprehensive information on each service is provided on the associated web pages.
Alternatively if you are unsure of what services you want to access, or you would like to access multiple services, please complete the application form at the following link: online application form and attach an up-to-date CV.
Is it free?
PSU resources are available free to trainees on London Deanery managed programmes and also to other selected groups. Please refer to the separate PSU resource tabs for further clarification on costs.
Fee Structure, Funding and Contracting Criteria
From its official launch date of 1st April 2012, the Professional Support Unit is adopting a fee structure for provision of its services for clinicians not covered by London Deanery resources.
PSU resources are available free to trainees on London Deanery managed postgraduate training programmes and other selected groups. For further details please look at the information about different resources on the PSU website or contact PSU@londondeanery.ac.uk
The Support Package
If clients are unsure which service(s) most suits their needs, following the application process: online application form they are invited to participate in an individual, confidential discussion to determine which service(s) will be most appropriate for their circumstances. Once the initial assessment has been completed, the Professional Support Unit will enter into a formal contract with the client; provision of services will be subject to terms and conditions and the levy of the appropriate fee. Where more than one service is recommended for the client, subject to agreement, the relevant fees will be included in the total cost of the Support Package.
