Record of Experience
This is a training log of tasks carried out by the trainee in the workplace under the observation of a GDC registrant (‘Witness’) who has carried out the NEBDN online training module. The written element of the log is substantial and students will spend much of the first few months of the course completing this. During development of the log sheets students are required to show reflective skills and Witnesses are asked to provide verbal and written feedback that develops the trainee
Coursework
Work is set at each session and involves 2 – 3 hours commitment per week as a minimum. This will involve Record of Experience logsheets, reading, research and written work.
Employment
Students are required to remain in employment as a Dental Nurse during the course. Should they change or cease employment for whatever reason the Tutor must be informed immediately. If an alternative employment is not secured within 8 weeks a course transfer will be considered. Individual circumstances will be taken into account.
Employers and GDC registrants who work with the trainee
Employers will receive an information pack once a student has been accepted and the fees have been paid.
We will send 3 reports during the course to provide feedback on attendance and progress. We will also contact Employers if we have any concerns including issues with attendance and punctuality. Employers may contact us at any time to discuss any training issues.
Any GDC registrant who signs off the trainees logsheets is now required by NEBDN to complete an online training module.
